North American Grid - Moving to Smarter Transmission and Distribution Technological Innovations

smartGRID - Substation Automation - Device Automation IEC 61970,61968 62325 61850

Real-time information put into the hands of revenue analysts, field services personnel, regulatory agencies, and strategists across your organization is now possible in a rapid time to market, while enjoying a reduced risk project profile. Our CIM compliant SmartGrid Integration Operational Data Store (ODS), and Data Warehouse (DW) products/patterns have the potential to reduce your core implementation time for infrastructure Proof of Concept (POC), Proof of Technology (POT), and initial solutions, from more than 1 year to as little as 2-3 months with substantial ROI while meeting risk mitigation project objectives

HOW IT WORKS

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) supporting the Utility industry has developed a Common Information Model (CIM) for standardized reference in operations and data sharing. Our SmartGrid Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), ODS and Data Warehouse solutions are a natural extension of the CIM to analyze operations for immediate strategic and tactical advantages. We have leveraged the standards and definitions established by the industry CIM Business Model emphasizing business processes to pre-design/pre-develop in our data center, critical SOA Web Service solutions supporting smart meter integration for example. SISG can further extend this integration with Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) programming and create common Business Intelligence reporting infrastructure delivering immediate, leveraged, end user functionality.

SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE (SOA) Technologies Approach Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

SISG prepares UML USE CASES and Conceptual Logical and Physical models. These are later converted to UDB, Oracle, DB2, or MSSQL databses. The integration of various source information and vendor analog or digital data from residential and substation feeder smart meters or RTU and specialized substation devices (monitoring voltages and current for example), are then translated to XML/XSLT Meditation formats - sent to JMS Queues, and or WSDL/SOAP artifacts are created. These artifacts are then integrated in REAL-TIME to those database targets. B2B or downstream Data Warehouses and Data Marts (using ETL option if desired) are then populated as required.

CLIENT BENEFITS

Understand the value of SmartGrid data beyond daily operations. Avoid common mistakes of premature aggregation and data silos that limit the usefulness of your investment. Fulfill the value of CIM in much shorter time-to-market for your data integration and Business Intelligence applications. Adherence to a long-term focus on CIM-based development will reduce Time to Market - Project Development Costs - Maintenance Costs - System Errors - Bad Data Risk.
